Sliding Head Precision Turning
We offer precision CNC turned parts using modern Citizen sliding head lathes with seven cutting axes to enable us to manufacture both simple and complex parts. We can currently make parts from 2 to 25mm diameter and up to 110mm in length, in a range of materials including stainless steel, brass, aluminium and certain grades of plastic. The 3.8 metre long bar feeders allow us to run for long periods of time between bar reloads whilst minimising remnant material waste. We run the machines unattended whenever possible, dependent on material and tool life, to help provide competitive prices.
Electromagnetic needle deburring
Sometimes it's not so easy to deburr all the sharp edges produced during machining, particularly if they are on internal edges in small holes or slots. For non-ferrous materials such as stainless steel, aluminium or brass, we have a solution. We offer electromagnetic needle deburring whereby magnetic needles (driven by revolving electromagnets in the base of the machine) bombard components on every surface to deburr or polish them. We have used Ø0.3mm needles to deburr Ø0.35mm drilled holes in 316 stainless steel for example, with great success.
Ultrasonic solvent cleaning
The coolant used on sliding head lathes is oil-based, not water-based, so finished parts usually need to be cleaned or de-greased. The exception is if parts are going to be coated or plated, in which case the processor would normally undertake this operation. Many companies, including ours, can offer aqueous ultrasonic post-cleaning of parts. Unfortunately this still leaves a slightly greasy residue on the parts, which can be a problem for certain customer applications. To overcome this we have invested in an ultrasonic solvent cleaning machine to provide a perfectly clean and dry finish when required.
